Funding overview
2014-2019
The Virginia Biomonitoring Program was created by the Virginia Division of Consolidated Laboratory Services to expand the Commonwealth's capability and capacity to assess environmental exposures in Virginians.
Through this program, the Virginia Division of Consolidated Laboratory Services built an infrastructure that can support current and future studies to detect and prevent exposures of concern. These studies include:
- The Exposure of Virginia Residents to Toxic Metals and Perchlorate study, a study of environmental exposures among the general population in Virginia
- The Exposure of Firefighters to Toxic Combustion Products study, a study to assess exposure to cyanide and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) metabolites in firefighters
