ABCs Bact Facts Interactive Data Dashboard

Purpose

Bact Facts Interactive allows you to view data from Active Bacterial Core surveillance (ABCs), a part of CDC’s Emerging Infections Program. ABCs is laboratory- and population-based surveillance that monitors invasive bacterial infections that cause bloodstream infections, sepsis, and meningitis in persons living in the community. ABCs data are used to understand the burden of these severe infections and to inform vaccine and other public health policies.

How to Use Bact Facts Interactive

Data are available for group A Streptococcus, group B Streptococcus, Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria meningitidis, and Streptococcus pneumoniae.

Each bacterium has different characteristics, so topics will vary. Topics may include estimated number of cases and deaths, case rates, death rates, syndromes, serotypes or serogroups, antibiotic resistance, and surveillance report. Some topics can be broken down by age, race, or sex.

The data can be displayed in a graph or a table. Right click anywhere in the graph for a tabular view. Hovering your mouse over or selecting a data point or bar in the graph will display detailed information. Some graphs allow you to hide or show data from the legend for detailed analysis.
