CDC's Division of Reproductive Health (DRH) possesses a unique combination of
expertise, partnerships, and commitment to reproductive health improvement
that is essential for ensuring positive impact of resources invested in
assisting developing nations. DRH has been working in the developing world
for over 30 years, providing support and technical assistance and building
capacity in a broad array of areas of reproductive health.
CDC's
Division of Reproductive Health (DRH) has identified Global Reproductive
Health as one of five division priority areas, and is committed to improving
the health of women, children, and families throughout the world. The
Division of Reproductive Health has been working in developing countries for
over 30 years, providing scientific and technical assistance, and working to
build capacity in a broad array of reproductive health areas
DRH’s global activities focus on:
- improving infant health
- optimizing maternal health
- enhancing women's reproductive health
- preventing unintended pregnancy
…in all parts of the world, and particularly in developing countries.
Global Activities
MEASURE CDC—a 3-year Participating Agency Program Agreement (PAPA)
with USAID to provide technical assistance in areas of:
Maternal and Infant Morbidity and Mortality
World Health Organization
Collaborating Center in Reproductive Health (WHO/CC/RH)
HIV Prevention Research
Reproductive Health in the U.S.—Mexico Border Region
Partnerships
CDC's Division of Reproductive Health has a long history of working with
a broad range of partners internationally. Projects frequently involve close
collaboration with United Nations agencies, including WHO, UNICEF, and
others; the World Bank, the Red Cross, and others. The Division of
Reproductive Health has partnered with other agencies within the U.S.
government, including the State Department, sister agencies within the
Department of Health and Human Services, and other Centers and Divisions
within CDC. The Division of Reproductive Health has also partnered globally
with a wide assortment of non-governmental organizations, foundations
(including the CDC Foundation*),
universities, and national governments.
