Ergonomic Interventions in the Building, Repair, and Dismantling of Ships

Easy Fixes: Welders on Booms

Hazard: Individual wire welding units weigh about 30 pounds and must be carried to the work location by each worker. Electrical cable and welding leads clutter the shop floor and become tripping hazards.

Solution: By mounting wire welding units on overhead Jib Booms, the units can be suspended near the work location eliminating the need for workers to carry the units and eliminating tripping hazards.
