Entomology Branch

DPD's Entomology Branch works to reduce the threat of insectborne diseases to humans. The Branch focuses on vector control for:
- malaria
- lymphatic filariasis
- Chagas disease (American trypanosomiasis)
- onchocerciasis
The Branch also provides technical assistance on insecticide resistance, analysis of insecticides and malaria drugs, and on long-lasting treated bednets and indoor residual spraying programs.
The Branch assists in meeting the Malaria Research and Reference Reagent Resource (MR4) Center vector requests.
Chemistry & Resistance Team
The Chemistry & Resistance Team performs:
- drug analysis to determine the causes of treatment or therapeutic failure;
- insecticide analysis to determine the chemistry and application of insecticide on insecticide-treated nets and used in indoor residual spraying; and
- insecticide resistance analysis to detect, assess, and manage insecticide resistance.
