Partnering to Fight HIV/AIDS
The CDC Global AIDS Program began supporting Mali in 2001. Since then, CDC has
been supporting the Government of Mali and other partners to implement HIV
prevention interventions and provides technical assistance and training to build
capacity in laboratory and surveillance of HIV and sexually transmitted
infections.
In 2003, US President George W. Bush announced the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and CDC Mali became a part of this unified US Government effort to turn the tide against the epidemic.
