The National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) Data Users Workshop, August 19, 2010

 

The National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) will conduct an all-day workshop on the National Health Interview Survey on Thursday, August 19, 2010, at NCHS in Hyattsville, Maryland. This workshop is independent of the NCHS Data Users Conference, which will take place August 16-18, 2010, in Washington, D.C., but it was intentionally scheduled to immediately follow the conference. You must register separately to attend.

The workshop is open to everyone. Material is targeted to both beginning and intermediate users of NHIS data. This is not a hands-on workshop. The preliminary agenda includes:

• Overview of the National Health Interview Survey
• Questionnaire development and supplements
• Information about the sample design
• Linked data resources
• Accessing data through the Research Data Centers
• Roundtable discussions and website demonstrations
• Creating an analytic file, using weights in analyses, and multiple imputation
• Analytic examples
• Co-sponsoring supplemental questions on the NHIS
• Publications that use NHIS data

Registration is free and will open near the end of May. Please check back then to register online. Participants should register as early as possible, as space and resources are limited. Our staff has put a great deal of effort into planning this workshop, so if you register and later find you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration promptly to give others an opportunity to participate.
