Thank you for your interest in international opportunities at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

There are opportunities for non-US citizens to work for the CDC. Non-US Citizens are eligible for employment through fellowship programs, as contract staff with companies with a viable contract with CDC, or as individual contractors. In most cases, non-US citizens are not hired as career civil service federal employees.

Click here for additional information about employment of non-citizens by the federal government.

Fellowship Programs

Following are fellowship programs that accept non-US citizens and have international opportunities. Please visit the respective websites to learn about eligibility and application requirements.

Contractors

Personal Services Contracts

A Personal Services Contract (PSC) is an employment contract between CDC and an individual. The PSC creates an employer-employee relationship that allows CDC to exercise supervision and control over the contractor, who fulfills roles and responsibilities outlined in the contract. CDC PSCs may be used to employ U.S. citizens or third-country nationals and are limited to services provided outside the United States.  PSCs may not be used to employ host-country nationals (defined as citizens or "permanent" legal residents of the host country), who are hired in the host country through the U.S. Embassy.

For more information, email: psc@cdc.gov.

Non-Personal Services Contracts

CDC has agreements with a number of private companies to provide staff for a variety of global health positions. Employment as a contractor is available through these companies. As a contractor, employees are categorized as an employee of the specific company that has a contract with the CDC, rather than as a federal employee. Terms of employment and benefits are specified by the contractor, not the CDC.

Following is a list of firms with current CDC assignments. If you are interested in serving with one of these companies, contact them directly:
