RightSize Software and Micronutrient Malnutrition Case Study

(2.66 MB, Self-extracting Zip file) Zip file

The computer-based Micronutrient Malnutrition case Study is based on a national survey conducted in Azerbaijan. The training incorporates RightSize, a computer software tool that calculates sample size. RightSize teaches optimal practices by showing the effects of differing assumptions on sample size of simple random and cluster surveys. Effects of user choices on the costs and timeliness of the survey are shown in both text and graph formats. The target audience includes public health employees and students who design and develop surveys.
This project was created in cooperation with NCCDPHP.

The training
  • Provides an overview of the process of designing and conducting surveys.
  • Helps make appropriate survey design choices.
  • Illustrates the effect of choices made in determining sample size.
  • Outlines survey design methods.

MAPit - Micronutrient Action Plan Instructional Tool

MAPit is a training tool for epidemiologists and other health professionals to increase their understanding of, and involvement in, micronutrient malnutrition-elimination programs. It targets those who want to strengthen their overall understanding of, and involvement in, micronutrient malnutrition-elimination programs. The target audience includes public health personnel at all levels. This project was created in cooperation with NCCDPHP.

The training
  • Provides an overview of micronutrient malnutrition control and prevention programs, with emphasis on the components of assessment, analysis, monitoring and evaluation, and communication.
  • Can be used as a self-study tool or incorporated into group training programs

Modular Learning Components (Mini-Modules)

These self-paced computer-assisted training tutorials provide interactive instruction. The training tools concentrate on a single learning objective and provide in-depth descriptions of the subject and an opportunity to practice the skills learned through a series of interactive components and examples. The target audience includes public health employees and trainees of field epidemiology training programs.

Following is a list of topical areas:

Foodborne Disease Outbreak Investigation Training

This training includes computer-based and classroom epidemiologic case studies that focus on real-life foodborne disease outbreak investigations. The target audience includes public health employees with basic epidemiology knowledge.
