Federal Council on Skin Cancer Prevention

The mission of the Federal Council on Skin Cancer Prevention is to facilitate federal skin cancer awareness and prevention efforts through education and promotion of sun safe behaviors. The goals of the Federal Council on Skin Cancer Prevention are to:

  • Raise the importance and support including skin cancer awareness and prevention on the agendas of federal agencies;


  • Increase skin cancer awareness and prevention behaviors among and provide information to all federal employees, their families, and their constituents;


  • Develop and support partnerships between federal agencies that extend and reinforce core skin cancer messages and encourage sun safe behavior;


  • Develop a formal infrastructure that establishes the science and communication needed for a federal skin cancer prevention effort.

The Federal Council on Skin Cancer Prevention participates in CDC's Skin Cancer Primary Prevention and Education Initiative, a national program for preventing skin cancer. The Federal Council on Skin Cancer Prevention assists in meeting national public health objectives for preventing skin cancer by supporting complementary education efforts and coordinating information exchanged among federal agencies. Members of the Federal Council on Skin Cancer Prevention are:
