What is the
National Council on Folic Acid?
The National
Council on Folic Acid (NCFA) is a
partnership of
nearly 100 organizations whose mission is to improve health and reduce birth defects by
promoting the benefits and consumption of folic acid.
NCFA is managed
by the Spina Bifida Association and is supported in part by a
cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention.

Activities
The National
Council on Folic Acid is planning some exciting new projects for
2006-2007. We’re looking for your input, ideas and a commitment of
time for the duration of the projects coordinated by our work
groups:
FOLIC ACID
AWARENESS WEEK
Mark your calendars -- Folic Acid Awareness Week is
January 8-14, 2007. This work group reviews existing
educational materials and assesses partners’ needs as it creates new
(free!) tools for partners across the country.
MARKETING
The Marketing Work Group devises creative strategies
for marketing and communication to increase our visibility and
expand our reach.
This work group aims to capitalize on the obvious link
between our cause and the Mother’s Day holiday in May 2007 by
developing a theme, promotional materials and a strategy for working
with the media.
